Mission and Stewardship

Mission statement

As the Bride of Christ, we at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church strive by grace to hear God's Word, receive the Sacraments of our Lord, serve one another in the communion of the Holy Spirit, love one another as Christ loves us and bring Christ to others.

Like the first Christians described by Luke in Acts 2:42, we at Augustana have devoted ourselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship in the breaking of the bread, and to the prayers.  Strengthened for service by our gracious Lord Jesus, we serve others as they have need.

We regularly give from our tithes and offerings to support the work of the wider church, both locally and globally.  Currently, we regularly support the local work The Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, Camp Linn Haven, and the Pregnancy Care Center in Hickory.  We also support the work of LCMS-World Relief and Human Care active in Haiti, Japan, Mississippi and Alabama, the work of an LCMS missionary, Pastor Glen Fluegge,  teaching in the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Pretoria, South Africa, where he trains pastors for the African church.

Mission Breakfasts

Monthly, a group in the congregation holds a breakfast where all monies received go to help a local family in need.

Annual Hospice BBQ Fundraiser

We support the work of the Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley with our annual BBQ Dinner fundraiser.

Augustana is deeply committed to reaching out with the love of Christ.
